Answers to the most common questions about Halda's AI Phone Agent.

What is AI Phone?

It's an AI voice assistant that handles both inbound calls (people calling your AI phone number) and outbound calls (for example, when someone clicks "Call Me" on a form response page). During a call it can answer questions from your knowledge base, collect contact details, text the caller helpful links, and transfer to a human department.

How do I get set up?

Setup has a few stages:

  1. Request a phone number through the in-app request form (you'll provide contact and institution details and any preferred area codes).
  2. Configure voice and greetings under Phone Configuration after your phone number request is approved.
  3. (Optional) Set up call hand-offs to route callers to the right department.

What can I configure about the assistant's voice and greetings?

Under Phone Configuration you can set:

  • The outbound greeting (how it opens a call it places)
  • The inbound greeting (how it answers calls)
  • A "searching" message for while it looks something up
  • The assistant voice (with a preview player), voice model version, language support, and a pronunciation library for tricky names or terms.

Can calls be transferred to a real person?

Yes. Under Call Hand-offs you can add up to 8 destinations, each with a department name and phone number (for example, Admissions or the Registrar). Transfers are offered during business hours — 9:00 AM to 4:30 PM in your account's time zone. The caller is told they're being connected and may need to briefly re-explain their question.

What does the assistant do during a call?

It can search your knowledge base to answer questions, send the caller an SMS with relevant info or links, find relevant pages on your site, and store the caller's contact details.

What's captured after a call?

Each call is saved with a full transcript, an AI-generated summary, a recording, the duration, timestamps, and the caller's number — all linked to the caller's lead profile. Calls are also automatically summarized and categorized by topic (e.g., Admissions, Financial Aid).

Where do I see call activity?

In the Conversations area of the Student Recruiter dashboard, where phone calls appear alongside SMS and WhatsApp. You can filter to Phone Calls and click any call to open its detail view — summary, topics, status/duration, full transcript with speaker labels, the recording player, and the caller's profile. From there you can also block a number.

Can I test it before going live?

Yes. The AI Phone Test Panel shows your configured number and its status (Active or Not Configured) and lets you place a test call to hear the assistant.

Which countries are supported?

AI Phone is built around US phone numbers and area codes today. (WhatsApp messaging supports international numbers, and some voices offer multilingual support.)
